So, I have seen dorm tours trend on YouTube, but I wanted to see how it would translate to a blog post. Even though I have been home for the summer for awhile, I knew that I wanted to create this for anyone who is getting ready to move off to college or needs ideas for their next year in a dorm. I took these pictures before moving out of my room so that everything would still be intact. I hope you enjoy.
First when you come to my room, you see my door. My sister was nice enough to draw the flute-playing panda for me, and the rest of the decorations are by my RA.
Next up, I have an overview of my dorm room.
First up in my room is this little shower caddy that I am using to store some random stuff like flashlights, post it notes, extra hooks, and a couple of hats (that are still there from marching season…). Below that is a case of water bottles and some popcorn. I like to keep some water bottles on hand, because, as you will see later, I do have a pitcher of water, but bottles are easy for when I need water and need to get to class or something quickly.
Then you have my desk. I have a lamp, a clock, my iPad, a painting I made during a welcome event, tissues, a pencil holder, sanitizer, paper towels, and books. I got the lamp and the clock from Target. I am really happy with my decision to get an alarm clock, because it makes it so much easier to wake up in the morning. My phone is right next to me, and this way I actually have to get up to turn off my alarm. I also love my Erin Condren Life Planner for planning for classes and my blog. If you want to get one for yourself, you can use this link for $10 off. (Psst. I get $10 back, too!)
Next up is my little kitchen set up. I also have a printer that wouldn’t really fit anywhere else. I have a few bowls, a few cups, and a plate. There’s also my water pitcher. I got the filter pitcher, but I don’t need it, because there is a water filter thing down the hallway where I can fill my pitcher, and my college town apparently has really good water to begin with, but you can never be too safe. The microwave, bowls, cups, and pitcher are from Target, and the mini-fridge is from Costco. The dresser, which I use as a pantry and for other random storage, was provided by my dorm.
Then there is the rest of my food set up. I have some snacks in the white bin (from Target), and then I have some cereal and plastic cups and also a nice 40 oz water bottle. I keep the cereal out, because that way I don’t forget about it.
Next is my bed. I have a typical college bed. The bedding is from Target and the blanket at the end is from Costco. I like the dorm bed, but even with a mattress pad it can only be so comfortable.
Next to my bed is a side table that I brought from home, because I am so used to having something to set my phone and other random night time needs on. I can’t live without one. There is also a shower curtain hanging there on the wall. Originally, I had my bed in front of the curtain, but then I got tired of my bed taking up like all of the open space, so I moved it. I kept the curtain there to bring something to the wall…maybe there’s a window behind, you don’t know.
I also have a little sitting area with two chairs and an ottoman from Target and another side table from home. This is nice when my parents would come to visit for when I had a performance or something. If there was like a home football game, my parents would pick up sandwiches for lunch before the game and we would eat in my room, so it was perfect. My room is not the central hang out place for dorm friends, though. That would be next door…
Then here is my closet. I have some fancy clothes for music performances and some jackets hanging up. I also have my robe, towels, and my little shower caddy type thing. I actually prefer this hanging thing to a regular caddy, because I can hang it in between the shower hooks, and it doesn’t have to sit on the ground or get soaking wet. My mom found this on Amazon, and I would recommend it.
In this next corner of the closet, I have some toiletries and other random bathroom/health necessities all sitting atop my second set of drawers that I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to have. In this dresser, I store most of my clothes. I also have an Ethernet cord hanging on the wall, which is great to use when the Wi-Fi is slow, or confession here: it took me almost a semester to figure out how to connect my laptop to the school network…
In the next picture, you can see the hanging closet organizer that I have. In there, I keep frequently accessed clothes and things. I have my pajamas, jean shorts, leggings, extra towels, and below that are shoes.
Then, you can see me taking a mirror selfie, because why not? (Sorry for the bad lighting, btw)
Lastly, I have two hooks, one for my keys and one for my purse. That way I don’t forget my keys when I am leaving my room. I loved having these to hang my keys and purse one.
Well, that’s it for my dorm room tour! I hope you guys liked it and maybe got some inspiration for your dorm (or whatever) room next year. If you like a specific part, let me know! Tweet me at @HannahHaefele.
Thanks for reading!
That is a big room! So lucky! I love that bed linen + the shower curtain. If you didn't say it was a shower curtain I would have just thought it was a tapestry. Cute!

I know, I loved it, especially the second set of drawers! And thanks re: the bedding and the shower curtain. I originally was planning to use it for my closet, but I ended up with a closet door, so it worked!
