College Weekend Routine

In college, there is a ton of information about how to have a good week or day of classes. However, there is little talk about a good college weekend routine. Most college bloggers who do “Day in the Life” posts track a day during the week. That’s great, but there are some things that you can do during the weekend to have a better day or week. I am going to share with you my weekend routine that helps prepare me for a good week.

Killer Harmony | Having a weekend routine can be a great way to prepare yourself for a great week. Weekends are awesome for being productive but also for having fun.

Here is what a weekend in the life looks like for me!

Waking Up

The best part of the weekend in my opinion is that (in most cases) I don’t have to set an alarm. I can go to bed and wake up when my body wants to as opposed to having to fight my body’s internal clock.

Without an alarm, I usually wake up around nine, and I like to get an easy, slow start to my day. After I finally get out of bed, I walk myself down to the bathroom to wash my face. This helps me wake up and feel ready to take on the day. I follow that by getting dressed so that I feel more productive.

Getting PRoductive

After I am awake, I check my to do list and get something done. Whether it is checking emails or finishing a major assignment, starting with a bit of productivity is awesome. It makes the day much easier, because I don’t have that annoying paper or assignment hanging over me. Getting something done allows me to more fully enjoy my day off from class.

Eating Some Breakfast

After I get something done, I like to eat a little bit. I like to eat smaller amounts of food throughout the day. Usually, I will have some cereal or another small thing from my room. My college’s cafeteria doesn’t open until almost noon, and I can’t wait for that. I also like to start drinking water early in the day so that I am not tempted to snack and snack on all of the junk food in my room and in vending machines.

More Work Or Some Relaxation

During and after breakfast, I like to catch up on social media, watch YouTube videos and read blog posts. I love getting to interact with other bloggers and friends and family. Also, since I almost always post on Mondays (except for Blogmas-which is every day) the weekend is the perfect time to get a post written for the upcoming week.

Lunch Time!

Around noon, or a little before, I head to my college cafeteria or I order food or find something in my dorm. It all depends on what is on the menu. If there is something I like, I will go to dining hall, but I usually end up eating on my own. Again, I like to eat something small and drink water.

Going to the PRactice Room

After lunch, I usually go to the practice rooms to work on whatever music I need to. I start with some tone and technique warm ups on my flute and then I get into solos and ensemble music. If you want to see my full practice routine, let me know!

I tend to take it easy in terms of practicing on the weekends, after all, it is the weekend. So, I like to work on a few things, but I won’t spend hours and hours practicing.

More Work (Or a Nap)

When I get back to my room, I either work on upcoming assignments or on my blog and business. If it is a day for blogging, I will work on social media updates, graphics and blog posts. If I have to work on school work, I will prioritize what assignments I have to complete and then go from there. On days where I am all caught up with work, then I might take a short nap.

Dinner

For dinner, someone else is probably around to hang out. My friends and I will sometimes go to our cafeteria, but if it doesn’t look like it will be good, then we will go get pizza or to some other restaurant.

Free Time

Sometimes, I might hang out with friends during this time. Other times I will work on my blog. Or, I will just hang out and watch Netflix or something. Then around nine, I will try to call my family to catch up. I love talking with my family, and video chatting is a great way to stay close to people when I am away from home.

Then, around ten or eleven, I will start winding down and getting ready for bed. I might take a shower or just switch into my pajamas. I know by this time I won’t be going out, so I have no problem getting into something comfy. At this time, I will also get in bed and check social media and watch some Netflix or YouTube.

So, that is what my weekend routine is in college. I love being able to use the weekend to get some productive stuff done but to also have some fun and some me time.
