With Amazon KDP, you can self-publish digital and physical books. You don’t have to do any of the printing, so you upload your file once and make a cut of each sale.

I’ve been an Amazon affiliate since 2016, and I’ve earned a decent side income in that time. Here’s how you can make money this way.
Set Up a Blog
First, I’d recommend either creating a website or adding a blog to an existing website. I use WordPress hosted on SiteGround, and it’s been a great choice for me.
You can then use your blog to write about your experience as a musician. Try to post new blog posts as frequently as you can to build up traffic that can convert to sales.

Of course, you’ll also want to apply to Amazon Associates. Once you get in, make sure to follow their rules when using your affiliate links.

The next step to making money through Amazon Associates is to get affiliate sales. To do that, you need to get people to see your content and click on your links.
My favorite way to do this is to use search engine optimization (SEO). This is where you create your content with the goal of it showing up in search results, which can help you get free organic traffic.

When you first start with affiliate marketing, you’ll need to promote your posts, even if you use SEO. That way, you can get even more people to see your content.
You can use platforms like Pinterest to share links to your blog posts. And if you already have an engaged audience on Instagram, it’s another great option.
How to Make Money With Amazon KDP
I don’t have as much experience with Amazon KDP, but I’ve uploaded a couple of things. If you like creating books, this might be a better option for you.
Create Original Material
First, you’ll want to come up with some ideas for books to create. If you’re a composer, this is a great platform to self-publish your original works.
But you can also create educational materials or even blank practice journals. The most important thing is that you own the rights to the content that will be in the book.
Publish Your First Book
Once you have an idea for what to publish, it’s time to turn that idea into reality. You’ll want to turn the book into a PDF file.
Then, you can upload the file to Amazon KDP and add a cover and other details. Amazon makes it pretty easy to publish a new book, so follow the steps they give you.
Use Amazon SEO
When writing your book description, use SEO like you would with your blog. Optimize the description for keywords that people are searching for.
That can help you show up closer to the top of search results so you can get more sales. So do your research and see what your competitors’ listings look like to inform how to write yours.
Promote Your Books
Just like with growing a website, it takes time before your books will get traffic on their own. Use the same methods you would to promote new blog posts, such as social media.
You can also email your mailing list when you publish something new. Send them the link to your latest book to help drive sales.

You can make money with Amazon Associates and Amazon KDP. Try both to see which you like better and which gives you more money sooner.
While I’ve had more success as an affiliate, some people find a lot of success publishing books. Both options are worth testing out to see which you prefer.
