Do you have a cello-playing friend? Or have you always admired the cellists in orchestra?
You probably started playing flute because you liked the instrument. It’s small and easy to carry, and it doesn’t cost nearly as much as a cello.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t dream, right?
Now, you can play cello music, on your flute. J.S. Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 is one of the most popular pieces of classical music. You’ve probably heard it on YouTube and in some famous shows and movies.
Even non-musicians know the piece.
That makes it the perfect cello piece to learn on the flute.
Ready to make your cellist friends envious?
Let’s go!
What would it feel like to:
- Explore new repertoire?
- Play some old favorites but on a different instrument?
- Share your love of Bach, despite not playing the cello?
- Enjoy some solo music on your flute?
- Not have to worry about reading bass clef music?
- Play the entire cello suite, not just the prelude?
You can do it with this arrangement!
I know what it’s like to:
- Wish I had the same tone as a cello.
- Feel like my flute isn’t mellow enough.
- Want to learn a new instrument (cello) for the music.
- Give new life to famous pieces.
- Enjoy practicing “new” music on my flute.
- Have fun with music that isn’t as common or “serious.”
Now, it’s your turn.
You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a cello and private lessons, just to learn more music.
You don’t have to struggle to read bass clef just to play a cello piece.
And you don’t have to spend time arranging the music yourself, figuring out the right programs and how to use it.
As a busy flute player, you know there’s a ton of music available for our instrument. But you also know that there are tons of works that weren’t written for the flute.
You want to be able to explore new and old repertoire in new ways. And you can do that, right now.
This arrangement of the J.S. Bach Cello Suite No. 1 includes:
- The famous Prelude that everyone knows and loves
- All of the other movements, so that you can explore the entire work
- A PDF (free of edits and markings) that you can download and print or use instantly
- The ability to print off another copy if you lose it
Total Investment: $12
That’s all.
FAQs
If you’re still unsure if this is for you, keep on reading.
Can’t I just find the music on IMSLP?
You can, but this arrangement doesn’t have any dynamics or slur markings, so you can write in your own. Performance practice, for the win!
This edition also uses common time, rather than cut time, so it’s easier for teachers and students to read. And all of the music is on one line, so you can easily read all of the big leaps.
What’s the range for this arrangement?
The range is concert C4 to concert G6 (low C to high G on the flute).
Is this good for an intermediate player?
The large leaps are a little difficult but not impossible. While I would not recommend this piece for beginners, serious intermediate students can learn this piece with a teacher or other guidance.
